IBC Welcomes UAE Ambassador in Courtesy Visit, Discusses Prospects for Closer Cooperation

Jakarta, 3 July 2026 — The Indonesian Business Council (IBC) received His Excellency Abdulla Salem AlDhaheri, Ambassador of the United Arab Emirates to the Republic of Indonesia and Non-Resident Ambassador to the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste, in a courtesy visit at IBC's offices in Jakarta. His Excellency was accompanied by Ms. Meera AlAzeezi, Head of Economic Affairs at the Embassy of the United Arab Emirates in Jakarta, and Ms. Roselen Fortuna, Economic Affairs Analyst at the Embassy.

The visit provided an opportunity for IBC to introduce its mandate and priorities as Indonesia's business-led policy institution, and for both sides to exchange views on how the two institutions could work more closely together in support of the broader Indonesia-UAE relationship.

The discussion highlighted several key sectoral priorities for future collaboration, including energy security and food security, with particular interest in the potential of regional fuel stockpiling. Trade was also discussed, including opportunities to build on the Indonesia-UAE Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (IUAE-CEPA) through stronger business-to-business engagement. Both sides also explored the potential for IBC members to expand their presence in the UAE, given its position as a regional hub.

IBC further conveyed its appreciation for the participation of UAE private sector representatives, including Masdar and Mubadala, in this year's edition of the Indonesia Economic Summit (IES), and expressed its hope for continued and expanded UAE engagement in future editions.

Both sides welcomed the exchange as a constructive first step and agreed to remain in contact as the relationship between the two institutions develops further.
