Indonesian business community hopes Japan will provide a stable energy supply

Indonesian business leaders under the Indonesia Business Council (IBC), led by Chairman Arsjad Rasjid, have called for ASEAN to establish shared reserves of fuel and crude oil amid concerns over energy supply stability following the closure of the Strait of Hormuz. Speaking in an interview with Kyodo News in Tokyo on the 11th, Rasjid also expressed hope for stronger cooperation with Japan in technology and financing, including in LNG and renewable energy. Recalling Japan’s role in Indonesia’s economic growth in the 1970s, he stressed that Indonesia should be seen not merely as a market, but as a strategic partner.
