Bringing Indonesian Businesses into ASEAN's Energy Cooperation with Japan

The Indonesian Business Council (IBC) held a courtesy meeting with the Ambassador of Japan to ASEAN, H.E. Yonetani Koji, accompanied by IBC Chief Operating Officer William Sabandar, Director for Membership and Corporate Affairs Diana Permana, and Vice President for International Affairs and Operations Noto Suoneto.

The discussion covered IBC’s ongoing efforts to support ASEAN’s energy security and transition, particularly through initiatives such as regional fuel stockpiling and the ASEAN Power Grid. Both are important regional priorities that require close cooperation between governments, businesses, and international partners, including Japan.

With many of these initiatives involving Japanese companies and institutions, the meeting also provided an opportunity to explore ways to strengthen engagement and expand business cooperation.

IBC and the Mission of Japan to ASEAN shared an interest in deepening business ties between Indonesia and Japan, while creating more opportunities for collaboration across the region. As a council representing Indonesia’s industry champions, IBC looks forward to bringing more Indonesian businesses into these regional conversations and partnerships.
