On 27 September 2025, IBC organized a Focus Group Discussion on "Deepening Industry-University Collaboration Model to Improve Indonesia's Competitiveness," in partnership with the Directorate General of Research and Development at the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology.
Drawing on global examples of how industry-university linkage drives innovation and economic growth, the FGD explored the Ministry's strategy to close that gap in Indonesia while capturing industry input to shape it. IBC Members put forward concrete recommendations: embedding university lecturers within industry settings, establishing a flexible multiyear endowment fund for priority value-chain research, focusing research specialization on import-dependent industries, and raising Indonesian corporations' awareness of R&D investment as a driver of competitiveness.
