During IBC Members Meeting II 2025, the first panel session, From Policy to Delivery: Unlocking Climate and Development Finance, brought together insights from Presidential Special Envoy for Energy and Climate & Head of Housing Task Force, Hashim Djojohadikusumo, moderated by Partner Deloitte, Raj Kannan.
The discussion explored Indonesia’s pathway from climate policy to tangible action, covering housing development, coastal protection, financing strategies, the role of SOEs, and the future of the national carbon market.
COO IBC, William Sabandar, emphasized the importance of a unified narrative between government, business, and civil society to position the carbon market as a decarbonization driver. He noted that Indonesian carbon prices remain below European levels, despite high ecosystem value.
On palm oil, Hashim highlighted recent EU concessions, including 0% tariffs, while acknowledging ongoing barriers for downstream products. Further negotiations are expected, alongside the creation of a tropical forest nations alliance led by Brazil’s President Lula da Silva.
As Indonesia moves toward a sustainable future, the path from policy to action will depend on strong partnerships, clear strategies, and actionable investments, unlocking the full potential of climate and development finance for a thriving, resilient future.
