IBC Presents Policy Package Recommendations to President-Vice President-Elect to Strengthen Development Agenda of 2024-2029

Jakarta – The Indonesian Business Council (IBC) handed over a white paper entitled 15 Policy Package Recommendations to Support the Development Agenda of the President and Vice President of Indonesia 2024-2029. The recommendations were presented by IBC Chief Executive Officer Sofyan Djalil to Expert Council of Prabowo-Gibran National Campaign Team (TKN) in an event held in Jakarta, Thursday (22/8).

Sofyan Djalil stated the white paper mapped out development challenges in various focus areas and proposed a set of policy recommendations as a tool for elected leaders to achieve its development agenda.

“In this document, we have identified several key challenges that the incoming government must pay attention to. IBC also proposed recommendations on strategic policy that offer solutions to these challenges for the success of the new government,” Sofyan said in a statement, Friday, August 30, 2024.

Chairman of Prabowo-Gibran Expert Council Burhanuddin Abdullah expressed appreciation for IBC’s proposals and inputs presented in the “15 Policy Package Recommendations to Support the Development Agenda of the President and Vice President of Indonesia 2024-2029”. This recommendation will support the President and Vice President-elect 2024-2029 Prabowo Subianto and Gibran Rakabuming Raka in tackling development challenges.

“Many countries in the world including Indonesia are facing challenges of climate change, technological disruption, geopolitical tensions and global economic slowdown. This policy recommendation is important so we will be better equipped to anticipate these challenges and support the elected government in implementing their missions and programs,” said Burhanuddin Abdullah.

IBC was established as a platform for business leaders and industry pioneers in Indonesia to strengthen Indonesia’s competitiveness. IBC seeks to promote collaboration between the government, private sector, and civil society to build a more competitive and prosperous Indonesia through transparent and sustainable public policies.

Sofyan Djalil added that IBC is committed to bridging stronger cooperation between the government and the business sector. Through research and policy recommendations, IBC supports the adoption of better public policies.

IBC developed the white paper and policy recommendations through a series of intensive focus group discussions (FGD) with leading experts and practitioners, also covering inputs from the Prabowo-Gibran Expert Council.

In this recommendation, IBC presented policy proposals in various areas such as: strategy to adding 6-9 million hectares of new agricultural land, making breakthroughs in executing development using the state budget, increasing energy security through biodiesel, accelerating the economic potential of carbon management, and others.
