Jakarta, 7 August 2025 – The Indonesian Business Council (IBC) is at the forefront of driving significant health transformations in Indonesia, recently hosting two impactful Focus Group Discussions (FGDs). These sessions spotlighted innovative health solutions and the vital role of the private sector in shaping the future of public health in the country.
FGD 1: Beyond CSR – Empowering People-Centered Health Transformation
On 28 July 2025, IBC brought together government and business leaders to explore how the private sector can drive the transformation of Indonesia’s Primary Health Care (PHC) system. IBC emphasized the importance of designing people-centered PHC models with a strategic focus on scalability, replicability, and sustainability. These principles are key to enabling the effective expansion and long-lasting impact of health services across Indonesia. The Ministry of Health outlined its commitment to strengthening the PHC system, ensuring that health services are both accessible and efficient. Representatives from Tanoto Foundation, Tahija Foundation, ParagonCorp, CISDI, and Harvard Medical School’s Public Health Center discussed how businesses can contribute by providing funding, innovation, and expertise to support these efforts.
FGD 2: Scaling Wolbachia to Fight Dengue – The 100/100 Plan
On 5 August 2025, IBC focused on the 100/100 Plan, a groundbreaking initiative to combat Indonesia’s dengue crisis by scaling Wolbachia mosquito technology across 100 cities. This approach, which has shown promising results in reducing dengue cases and hospitalizations, aims to protect 110 million people. The discussion emphasized the need for collaboration between government, academia, and the private sector to overcome challenges and drive down costs, ultimately making this solution more widely accessible.
CEO of IBC, Sofyan Djalil, shared his thoughts on the importance of private sector involvement. “Indonesia’s health system transformation is a shared responsibility. The private sector’s expertise and resources are critical to creating scalable, sustainable solutions that truly impact the lives of millions.”
IBC remains committed to advancing these vital initiatives by continuing to foster collaboration across sectors. Upcoming meetings will focus on refining implementation strategies for both the Wolbachia and PHC initiatives, ensuring they receive the necessary support to scale and benefit communities across the nation.
