Revitalizing Indonesia’s Competitiveness through a Deeper Industry-University Linkage

In line with IBC’s mission to advance Indonesia’s competitiveness and welfare through the growth of innovation, on the 27th of August 2025, IBC is organizing a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) with the topic of “Deepening Industry–University Collaboration Model to Improve Indonesia’s Competitiveness” in collaboration with Directorate General of Research and Development of the Ministry of Higher Education, Science and Technology. Drawing from global best practices in developed countries where industry-university linkage becomes the fuel for powering innovation and economic growth, the FGD focuses on the Ministry’s strategy and program to close this gap whilst capturing industry’s experience, ideas, and aspirations to shape and operationalise the joint effort. IBC Members representatives convey critical inputs to the Ministry, such as University lecturers’ immersion to each of the industry, establishing a flexible and multiyear endowment fund for a priority industry value chain research, research specialization in industries that still rely heavily on imports, focusing on innovations that drive competitiveness and increase the awareness of R&D investment to Indonesian corporations.
