IBC Leadership Deepens Indonesia–Singapore Ties in Meeting with Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong

The Chair of the Board of Trustees, Arsjad Rasjid, and Leadership of the Indonesia Business Council (IBC) including Chief Executive Officer Sofyan Djalil and Chief Operating Officer William Sabandar paid a courtesy call on Singapore's Deputy Prime Minister and Minister for Trade and Industry, Gan Kim Yong on the 29th of July, 2026. The meeting gave both sides an opportunity to exchange updates on IBC's ongoing initiatives to strengthen Indonesia–Singapore economic cooperation and deepen the two countries' longstanding strategic partnership.

Building on the outcomes of the Indonesia–Singapore Business Roundtable at the Indonesia Economic Summit 2026, IBC highlighted its strategic collaboration with the Singapore Business Federation to accelerate the development of Indonesia's Special Economic Zones (SEZs). This partnership aims to promote greater cross-border investment and strengthen industrial competitiveness.

Looking ahead, IBC and DPM Gan Kim Yong discussed opportunities to deepen private sector collaboration as Singapore assumes the ASEAN Chairmanship in 2027, with IBC positioning Indonesian businesses to help shape regional priorities during this period. The two sides discussed a broad range of strategic priorities, including energy security, economic resilience, digital connectivity, and ASEAN's long-term competitiveness.

IBC also invited Deputy Prime Minister Gan Kim Yong and other Singaporean leaders to participate in the Indonesia Economic Summit 2027, positioning the Summit as a platform where Indonesian and regional business leaders can help set the agenda for Singapore's ASEAN Chairmanship year.
