IBC Hosts British Ambassador for Lunch Meeting on Green Transition and Human Capital Development

The Indonesian Business Council (IBC) held a productive lunch meeting with H.E. Dominic Jermey, Ambassador of the United Kingdom to Indonesia, and the Embassy’s economic team in Jakarta on 16 September 2026. The meeting was attended by IBC Chair of the Board of Trustees Arsjad Rasjid, CEO Sofyan Djalil, and COO William Sabandar, accompanied by Diana Permana, Director of Membership and Corporate Affairs, and Noto Suoneto, VP International Affairs and Operations.

The meeting reflected a shared interest in strengthening institutional collaboration, building on the successful Indonesia–United Kingdom Bilateral Business Roundtable held during the Indonesia Economic Summit 2026 in February, which focused on Financing the Green Transition in Indonesia.

Both sides recognized that the growing level of trust and confidence between the governments of Indonesia and the United Kingdom has created a strong foundation for deeper economic partnership. The next step is to further strengthen private-sector participation in translating these sectoral commitments into tangible cooperation, particularly across areas such as education, green transition, maritime economy, semiconductors, and other strategic sectors.

IBC expressed its commitment to bringing more businesses into these efforts and helping deepen sectoral partnerships between Indonesian and British companies.

Moving forward, IBC and the British Embassy look forward to working together to further narrow and sharpen the areas of cooperation, with an initial focus on green transition, including the development of energy grids and human capital development, both of which are increasingly recognized as important future engines of Indonesia’s growth. This cooperation will continue toward the Indonesia Economic Summit 2027, which will serve as a key milestone for demonstrating progress and identifying next steps.
