DEN and IBC Discuss Digital Reform, Deregulation, and Fiscal Credibility

At a meeting between the Indonesian Business Council (IBC) and Chairman of the National Economic Council (DEN) Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan on Tuesday, 4 August 2026 DEN outlined plans to turn digital reform into practical gains. Priorities include linking data across ministries, using AI to strengthen public services and tax administration, and improving oversight of commodity exports through DSI and Simbara. DEN also acknowledged that deregulation remains uneven, particularly in import governance and tourism.

IBC stressed the need to preserve fiscal credibility, avoid policy surprises, reassess growth targets realistically, and communicate with investors about the transparency and management of government-related financing. The meeting concluded constructively, with DEN expressing openness to collaboration with IBC to maintain dialogue and explore opportunities for future engagement on policy reform and implementation going forward.
