The Indonesian Business Council (IBC) leadership and members were honored to attend a luncheon hosted by the Ambassador of Canada to the Republic of Indonesia, H.E. Jess Dutton, together with his economic team.
Represented by Chair of the Board Arsjad Rasjid and CEO Sofyan Djalil, IBC welcomed the strong encouragement to support the upcoming implementation of the Indonesia–Canada Comprehensive Economic Partnership Agreement (CEPA), which is set to be ratified by both governments.
The discussion emphasized that private sector participation is key to strengthening trade, investment, and broader economic partnerships between Indonesia and Canada. IBC members present at the luncheon expressed strong interest in enhanced facilitation for market access and entry, receiving positive responses from the Canadian embassy.
Both sides also acknowledged a gap in awareness and familiarity between the two markets and populations. Addressing this gap will be a shared priority, with IBC and the Government of Canada committed to advancing engagement through various platforms and initiatives.
Looking ahead, IBC also expressed its intention to invite Canadian businesses to play a more active and visible role in the Indonesia Economic Summit 2027 next year.
